KEMI Badenoch has said there must be “no stone unturned” in a national inquiry into grooming gangs.

- BY MICHAEL KNOWLES Home Affairs Editor

The Tory leader insisted that convicted offenders with dual nationality should be stripped of their citizenship and deported.

Citizenship

This would include dual nationals who were born in the UK, the Express can reveal.

In a call for a tough probe in the pursuit of justice, Mrs Badenoch said that mosques could be ordered to cooperate and give evidence. A bombshell 200-page report by Baroness Louise Casey had claimed crimes committed by Pakistani or Asian grooming gangs were covered up to avoid inflaming community tensions.

Mrs Badenoch called on the government to adopt draft terms of reference for the inquiry drawn up by the Conservatives, saying: "[The probe] must investigate councils, the police and even the government if necessary.

"It must be time-limited, and it must consider the role of ethnicity, religion and other cultural factors.

"Baroness Casey's own report admitted that many of these cases are committed by people of Asian and Pakistani ethnicities.

"It said those who downplay the ethnicity of perpetrators are continuing to let down society, local communities and victims. We agree.
