Labour planning to build 1.5 million 'ugly homes' warns Kemi

SHADOW Housing Secretary Kemi Badenoch has hit out at Angela Rayner's ambition to build 1.5 million "ugly houses" in England.
Ministers may also decide where homes are built and force councils to release parts of the green belt for development if they fail to meet housing targets, under Labour's plans.
North West Essex MP Ms Badenoch bemoaned the Government move to drop the requirement for new homes to be "beautiful". The Tory leadership hopeful warned the rule, introduced by her party, "means so much to local communities", adding people "deserve to live in beautiful homes".
She claimed that Deputy PM and Housing Secretary Ms Rayner had "already let slip she's ditching the requirement to ensure that beauty is a key part of housing. So now she's telling us she's going to be replacing what they want with a requirement to meet 1.5 million ugly houses instead.
