Kremlin in bomb blitz blunder on own base

RUSSIA'S air force has reportedly dropped an aerial bomb near one of its own high-security airfields, which houses nuclear warheads.

The “accident” occurred over the city of Engels in the Saratov region.

A FAB-500 bomb, containing the equivalent of 0.2 tons of TNT, detached from a warplane and struck a village less than nine miles from the strategic military site.

The vast Engels-2 air base is believed to store nuclear warheads for Kh-55 and Kh-102 air-launched cruise missiles.

According to the independent media outlet Astra, the incident at Kvasnikovka village was covered up by Russian authorities.
