King's speech will unveil Bills to 'grow economy and keep people safe'

GROWING the economy and keeping people safe will be at the heart of next week's King's speech, Rishi Sunak told his Cabinet yesterday.

The Prime Minister added that the Government remains ambitious in its priorities ahead of a general election next year.

Mr Sunak opened a meeting of his Cabinet by saying the speech would focus on core measures including steps to "strengthen society and to keep people safe".

The King is expected to open the new session of Parliament next Tuesday, the first time he will do so as monarch.
