It's unsung McKenna who seems managerial marvel

MANCHESTER UNITED fan Kieran McKenna spent years lauding phenomenon” Wayne Rooney’s finishing prowess.

But it is Ipswich Town’s head coach who appears to be the managerial marvel as he plots a second successive promotion push for the second-placed Tractor Boys.

While Rooney is facing the heat from Birmingham supporters after beginning his reign with three defeats, it seems McKenna can do no wrong at Portman Road.

And the paths to their respective jobs could scarcely have been more different.

While Rooney was making life hell for defenders across Europe, McKenna was studying at Loughborough University after his playing days were curtailed at 22 by a hip injury.
