Joy as the Pope leaves hospital

A FRAIL but happy Pope Francis appeared to cheering crowds from a hospital balcony after five weeks being treated for life-threatening bronchitis and double pneumonia.

The 88-year-old wheelchair-bound pontiff, who was discharged yesterday, offered a Sunday blessing from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital.

The broadcast was also carried on a giant screen in St Peter's Square.
