Your Party founders Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn are the best of frenemies

Shortly after Rachel Reeves doles out her punishment beating, her former colleagues Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana will launch their new party — Your Party — to save the country from itself.

Their goal, wait for it... it’s even catchier than one of Keir Starmer’s “missions for national renewal”, is to provide an “alternative to the status quo and to decades of neoliberalism, austerity and the demonisation of refugees and marginalised communities”.

They are holding the movement’s founding conference next Saturday in Liverpool, promising they are not “just another political party”, they are planning on “doing politics differently”. Which is absolutely fantastic news as that’s definitely achievable. So what if there have been a few bumps in the road to get this far?

Sultana may have jumped the gun a little when she promoted a membership portal for supporters that led them to handing over £800,000 in donations.

Corbyn later told supporters to cancel their direct debits and said the emails that had been sent out about the party were unauthorised.
