A BRAVE nurse has told of the gruesome wounds inflicted during a terrifying crowbar rampage at a hospital, allegedly carried out by a 20-year-old Afghan man.

District nurse Meg Lynch was “beaten nearly to death” in an unprovoked onslaught that left five others injured and the local community reeling.

The horror unfolded just after midday on Tuesday at Newton Community Hospital in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, when the suspect reportedly flew into a rage after his request for medical attention was declined.

Police said the man, originally from Afghanistan and living locally, became “increasingly agitated” when asked to leave.
