PRESCRIBING patients more time close to nature could save the NHS some £635million a year, wildlife campaigners claim.

to GPS can already refer people to green-based projects designed improve physical and mental health.

And the Wildlife Trusts insists access to a natural environment will reduce our reliance on the health service.

The charity's vice-president, NHS doctor Dr Amir Khan, said the group has initiatives that can help with problems stemming from mental ill health and lack of exercise.
