Floods nightmare

FLOOD warnings were issued in 49 locations yesterday with more downpours forecast tomorrow.

More than three inches of rain could lash parts of south-west England with drivers warned about the risks of skidding.

And the Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning covering the morning and early afternoon, saying travel disruption is likely.

It said: "Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit."

The forecaster also issued warnings for Northern Ireland for today and further yellow alerts in southwest and eastern Scotland and large swathes of Wales tomorrow.
