New research has looked at how the appetite-suppressing injections could cut the risk of complications after a heart attack.

Weight-loss drugs mimic the glucagon-like peptide 1 hormone, which makes people feel full, and were initially developed to treat type 2 diabetes.

Branded forms Wegovy and Mounjaro are approved on the NHS for weight loss while Ozempic is prescribed for diabetes.
