DeSantis quits and supports Trump in White House race

FLORIDA governor Ron DeSantis has pulled out of the Republican presidential campaign on the eve of a vital primary.

His White House bid failed to meet expectations that Mr DeSantis would emerge as a serious challenger to the former US president.

Mr DeSantis, who has now endorsed Mr Trump, said on X, formerly Twitter: "It's clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance."
