Derelict purple carbuncle 'attracting the very worst kind of human behaviour'

A BLAZE at a half-built giant block of flats which has lain empty for three years has reignited calls for the “purple carbuncle” to be torn down.

Locals in Penryn say the derelict £40million development, intended to house 528 students, is a blight on homes and the historic Cornish port.

Angry resident James Clewett said the building “is attracting a generally higher level of delinquency. My neighbours and I are desperate.

“Living next door to an increasingly derelict mess, that is attracting the worst kind of human behaviour, is becoming a genuine burden.”
