CQC raps care home that 'evicted' dementia sufferer

THE failing care home that "evicted" an 89-year-old dementia sufferer while she was in hospital for an injury sustained there has been warned it may face enforcement action if it does not improve residents' safety.

Inspectors are assessing Gorton Parks Care Home again after issuing its owner with a warning notice over safe care and treatment last year.

The visit from the Care Quality Commission comes after the facility run by Advinia Care Homes Ltd apologised to Grace Nightingale for an "incident" in which she suffered cuts to her hand and broke two fingers.

Staff called 999 on February 4 when they found her in a corridor with her hand covered in blood. The next day, her daughter Karen was told the Manchester home was "permanently discharging" her mum as it could no longer cater for her needs.
