SO THE powers that be have belatedly woken up.

The world out there is not full of nice guys wanting to write poetry and play with kittens: it is teeming with aggressive leaders wanting to expand their empires and who cares who pays the price?

After decades of complacency, the West is starting to rearm, even if our own ghastly, insipid leader won't go into such trivial details such as timing: tragically it is looking as if decades of peace in this part of the world, at least, may be coming to an end.
