England's versatile back-row star fired up for midfield role if Borthwick comes calling

BEN EARL would have no problem being the centre of attention if Steve Borthwick ever asked him to shift from the back row to midfield.

Head coach Borthwick floated the idea of starting the Saracens star at inside centre in a Test match recently.

Earl was put there for the first time at the end of England's 52-17 win over Japan in Tokyo in 2024 and finished the 68-14 Cardiff rout of Wales there in March.

Fiji Levani Botia switched from centre to become a marauding openside flanker while South African midfielder Andre Esterhuizen can do a turn in the back row.
