Battle to award SAS hero Mayne a VC after 80 years

THE family of Paddy Mayne called for justice for the SAS hero after the Government confirmed it would review the case of awarding a posthumous Victoria Cross.

Evidence found by historians suggests his nomination for the medal was downgraded due to a clerical error.

The Honours and Awards Committee is reviewing the case, and Mayne's great-great nephew said the family have been given a "glimmer of hope".

Rob Menown told the Express: "It would mean a lot, not just for our family, but all of the people that can align themselves with Paddy and what he stood for."
