Bank must heed IMF and cut interest rates fast

NEW analysis of the global economy has some good news — but not for Labour-led Britain. Fears that Donald Trump’s tariffs would cause a worldwide slump have not come true, according to the International Monetary Fund.

US imports have surged and economic growth will be better than expected. But the UK is set to lose out, with our economy growing by just 1.2% this year and 1.4% in 2026. That means fewer jobs, lower salaries and young people robbed of the opportunity to succeed in life.

Those figures also mean that the Treasury will collect less tax to spend on our public services.
