'Law must force spies to tell truth'

- BY MICHAEL KNOWLES

THE families of those killed in the Manchester Arena bombing said “MI5 failed our loved ones” as they demanded spies are covered by the Hillsborough Law which forces transparency.

In a letter to Sir Keir Starmer, they said the intelligence agency “hurt us further through its lack of candour”.

Spies failed to act on clues that could have stopped Salman Abedi killing 22 people, Sir John Saunders concluded after chairing a three-year public inquiry.

The intelligence could have led to investigators following Abedi to his Nissan Micra where he stored explosives.
