AN allotment site that sparked so much controversy that police had to intervene has finally been given full planning permission.

Private allotment firm Roots initially attempted to transform a meadow into 700 commercial plots back in April 2023.

The firm says it is trying to beat the “allotment crisis” of long waiting lists for a council plot. It offers spaces from £9.99 a month including seeds, training sessions and equipment at the site in Abbots Leigh on the outskirts of Bristol.
