Tourist tax would be negative for our city - Ridley

A TAX on Coventry tourists is set to be discussed at an upcoming council meeting.

The motion, put forward by opposition leader Cllr Gary Ridley, references a government proposal to allow regional mayors to levy a tourist tax.

But Cllr Ridley believes this would have a 'negative impact' on Coventry.

In the motion, he adds: "In particular, the impact on key local assets such as Coombe Abbey Hotel and heritage attractions like St Mary's Guildhall."
