A MAN travelled more than 4,500 miles to get a tattoo which pays a unique tribute to Coventry.

- By RACHEL STRETTON

Mark Rushworth was born and bred in Coventry but since 2007 he has lived and worked in Colorado in the USA.

But Coventry remains close to his heart and he wanted a permanent reminder of his roots. He was drawn to the work of Coventry tattoo artist Clarissa Miller, also known as Red Riz, after seeing her Sky Blues designs online.

But as much as Mark is a fan of the Sky Blues, he wanted a design incorporating the whole of the city. He adapted the designs, substituting the club crest for the city’s coat of arms.

The tattoo also shows the spires of Coventry Cathedral.

Mark said he was ‘blown away’ by the experience and wanted to highlight the ‘amazing woman’ behind the small local business.

He explained: “For the past few years I have had a hankering for a more permanent tribute to my city. After a significant health scare, I decided to adorn myself with a Coventry themed tattoo. I had ideas, maybe the Locarno where my parents met, the cathedral’s, Massey Ferguson’s badge, the place my late Dad was so happy working, Lady Godiva, the round cafe, and the fantastic bands and singers from our city.
