Haul of weapons among hundreds taken off streets

A HAUL of bladed weapons seized at a home in Warwickshire makes up over half of knives taken off the streets in a recent operation by Warwickshire Police.

The Operation Sceptre was part of police plans to not only seize weapons but also to education and build understanding among impacted communities. Officers also took part in dozens of engagement sessions at schools and community spaces, as well as interacting with local shops.

"A recent operation has seen 207 knives were taken off the streets of Warwickshire - 78 of these were collected at surrender bins around the county with 129 seized from a house in Whitnash," a Warwickshire Police spokesman said.

"This was part of our commitment to tackling knife crime and building understanding of the dangers of carrying a knife and part of a national week of action on prevention activity and awareness-raising.
