Coventry's teen drug problem as numbers on rise

MORE than 150 children have been suspended from Coventry schools due to drugs - with seven permanently excluded.

New figures show the state of the city's drug issue with 10 children under the age of 14 receiving treatment for drug addiction in the past year

There's a further 45 children under the age of 15 in treatment.

In total there are 85 children in Coventry currently receiving treatment for drug use - a rise of 6%.

Across the UK, ketamine is now a bigger problem among teenage drug users than ecstasy.

And experts have warned of a 'postcode lottery' of treatment that they say puts young lives at risk.

A BBC investigation uncovered overstretched community support services and a lack of residential rehabilitation facilities for the youngest victims of the UK's drugs crisis.
