Shocking! This was my one-word reaction to a viral clip of a church robbery in Samora Machel.

Invite robbers to church

What type of person walks into a church with a firearm (be it a toy or genuine gun) to rob congregants of their cellphones and other belongings?

Churches are highly regarded and respected, and we do not generally expect this kind of conduct in the kingdom of God.

This incident speaks to the deep-rooted moral decay in our communities and the need for urgent transformation of our communities.

As a father to six children, four of whom are boys, I pray daily to God that He guides and gives them direction. I educate them daily about the word of God and expect them to grow up in a respectful manner and honour the Lord with all their hearts and actions.

While this video has set tongues wagging and is seen by some as funny, for me it calls for a deeper community introspection.

We cannot look at such videos and believe everything is well in our communities. The deep-rooted moral decay fuelled by drugs, unemployment and other social ills such as absent fathers are some of the challenges that rip our communities apart.
