Serious concerns force a halt to Red Brick funding

NO further funds will be released to a regeneration project in Glastonbury.

And Somerset Council may need to seek repayment of monies already spent on the scheme.
It comes after an independent audit uncovered serious concerns over how nearly £2.9 million of tax-payer money was spent on The Red Brick Building, located off the A39 Street Road.
The site is the subject of significant building work as part of the £23.6m Glastonbury town deal, with the derelict ‘Building C’ being transformed into community events space, offices and other facilities.
The project (also known as the Life Factory) has run into numerous problems over the last 18 months, with reports of local contractors not being paid.
Work on the Life Factory has ground to a halt, as Building C remains unfinished, with no roof and no sign of how and when the project will be finished.
