WE remember and celebrate the life of Joan, who passed away peacefully at the age of 106. Born in 1919, the youngest of four siblings, Joan was introduced to the Catholic faith by her Godmother Myrah ~ a faith that gave her strength throughout her life.

Joan met her beloved husband Bert while walking to Glastonbury and they married in 1939 at Wells Church. During the war, while Bert was stationed in Scarborough and later deployed to Anzio, Joan made long and difficult journeys to visit him - testament to her courage and love.

After the war, they made their home at I The Mead, where Joan lived happily for 102 years, surrounded by cherished neighbours and friends. Together, Joan and Bert enjoyed family holidays and later, travels across Europe. They raised their children John and Mary with love and dedication.
