Gauteng police have confirmed that their investigation into the brutal murder of 11-year-old Jayden-Lee Meek is at an advanced stage, though no arrests have been made.
The grade five learner’s bruised and partially undressed body was discovered on the staircase of his family’s Fleurhof complex in Johannesburg on 14 May 2025. He was laid to rest at Westpark Cemetery on Saturday, 24 May 2025.
Discovery of Jayden-Lee’s Body
Jayden-Lee was reported missing on 13 May after his scholar transport dropped him off outside the Swazi’s Place complex in Fleurhof, where he lived with his mother, Tiffany Meek. According to reports, he never made it into their apartment. The following morning, a resident discovered his lifeless body on the staircase, just metres from his home. He was found partially undressed and covered in bruises, indicating a violent assault. The initial inquest docket opened when he was reported missing has since been reclassified as a murder case.
