In response to the escalating heatwave conditions across the state, the Telangana government has urged all relevant departments to take immediate and coordinated measures to protect public health and safety.
-
Minister for Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, issued these directives during a high-level review meeting held on Friday at the Secretariat with officials from 12 key departments.
The meeting was convened following alerts from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), which forecast excessive heat and prolonged high temperatures in Telangana through June.
The Telangana State Disaster Management Department, in collaboration with the IMD, has prepared a comprehensive Telangana State Heatwave Action Plan (HAP)-2025.
The plan was officially released by Minister Srinivasa Reddy during the meeting, who also announced the appointment of a nodal officer for each district to oversee the implementation of heat-wave-related measures.
The Minister emphasised the importance of setting up cooling stations across urban areas such as Hyderabad, Warangal, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Nizamabad, Kothagudem, Medak, and Karimnagar.
