Telangana Government sanctions Rs 7,360 Cr Godavari Water Project to augment supply to TCUR

Nearly a decade after initiating the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme, the Telangana government has approved a Rs 7,360 crore mega water augmentation project to bring an additional 20 TMC of Godavari water to the Telangana Core Urban Region (TCUR), including areas beyond Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road.
The new project — covering Phases II and III of the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme — is aimed at enhancing the drinking water infrastructure for Greater Hyderabad and 27 municipalities surrounding the city. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has finalised the tender process and is preparing to lay the foundation stone, with the ceremony expected to be attended by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy later this month.
