Minister Komatireddy urges CCI to relax moisture norms, hike MSP for T'gana cotton farmers

28 : Telangana Roads, Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today met Cotton Corporation of India (CCl) chairman and managing director Lalit Kumar Gupta in Mumbai and discussed the challenges faced by cotton farmers in Telangana due to unseasonal rains and rising cultivation costs.

During the hour-long meeting, the Minister sought relaxation of the current moisture content norms, an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP), and immediate relief measures for farmers affected by pest attacks and erratic weather.
Komatireddy emphasised that maintaining the existing moisture percentage of 8-12 per cent under Fair Average Quality (FAQ) norms is not feasible given the high humidity levels in Telangana and other southern states.
