Yoga is a timeless tradition of physical, mental and spiritual practice originated in India. Maharshi Patanjali systematized forms of yoga in his seminal work “Yogasutras”. The literal meaning of Yoga is “joining or uniting” symbolizing harmonious union body with mind and soul. Yoga practice consists of poses (asanas), meditation (dhyana), and breathing (shwasa). It is structured into eight (8) limbs namely, Yamarestraint; Niyama — observance of austerity; Asanaspostures; Pranayamabreath control; Pratyahararestraining sense organs; Dharana-contemplation; Dhyanameditation and Samadhi-deep meditation.

“The Yoga day has become one of the biggest mass movements in the quest for good health and well being”. Hon'ble PM of India Narendra Modi.
Globally, yoga is now recognized as a scientific and holistic wellness discipline. Its transformative effects on body and mind are well documented-from mitigating stress, anxiety, and depression to addressing lifestyle disorders such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes etc. It fosters mental clarity, emotional stability, and promotes overall wellness, helping individuals make healthier life choices. Yoga and lifestyles are interrelated.
Today's fast paced lifestyle habits adversely affect both mind and body. Lifestyle disorders and mental health issues have become common and posing greater challenges to individual, community and nation. Yoga has become more relevant than before. Benefits of practicing yoga in enhancing cardio vascular health, boosting immunity, psychological resilience etc., are documented in various scientific studies.
