CM Revanth Reddy distributes new ration cards, attacks BRS for ignoring poor

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy today declared that the ration card is not just a welfare document, but a symbol of the poor's self-respect, identity, and their primary shield against hunger.

Speaking at a massive public meeting in Tirumalagiri, Thungathurthy constituency of Suryapet district, the Chief Minister launched the distribution of new ration cards and launched a sharp attack on the opposition, particularly the previous BRS government.

CM Revanth Reddy said that while the BRS ruled Telangana for a decade, they never thought of issuing new ration cards or providing fine rice to the poor.

"During their rule, ration shops remained shut, while belt shops flourished," he quipped, adding that the Congress government has reversed that trend by reopening ration shops and ensuring that welfare reaches the doorstep of the poor.

He emphasised that ration cards are now being issued to 5.6 lakh new beneficiaries, covering 26 lakh people, with rice being distributed to 3.10 crore citizens in total.

"A ration card is more than a document-it is the dignity and survival tool of the poor," he said.
