Wiese the benchmark as rivals circle Bok No 8 jersey

THE Stormers’ No 8 Evan Roos is in top form for his side in the United Rugby Championship.

No 8 seemed like a near-impossible task with the contribution he made to the national side. However, Jasper Wiese has made that role his own in recent seasons and currently plays a vital role in the Bok pack and gameplan.

When he was suspended last season, there were a couple of hiccups in his absence. But since his return, several local players have also put their hand up for Springboks minutes ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup.

No 8 is a position the world champions have plenty of talent in ahead of a blockbuster 2026 international season.
