Three men die in suspected vigilante attack in Philippi

THREE men have died in an alleged act of vigilantism in Siqualo in Philippi after they were set alight.
Police were called to the scene on Saturday, along Weltevreden Road in Philippi, where the remains of the men were found.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Andre Traut, explained: “The Western Cape police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the bodies of three unknown men in the Siqualo informal settlement, Weltevreden Road, Philippi, at approximately 5.30pm on November 15. The victims were found set alight, and preliminary indications suggest that the incident is linked to vigilantism.”
Traut said the SAPS condemned the act of vigilantism.
