Paradox of the Nobel Peace Prize: A legacy of violence?

THE inventor of that deadly explosive, nitroglycerine, known as dynamite, established the Nobel Peace Prize for any individual who could bring about a ceasefire, encourage the avoidance of war, or even put an end to any brutal battle.
Alfred Nobel was, arguably, forced to do this because his invention had already been used for many violent purposes, including the exploitation of natural resources in coal and gold mines by colonists abroad.
