‘Mamma Delft’ is fuelling matric learners for success

DUBBED Mamma Delft, Wilhelmina Heynes is feeding 50 matric learners breakfast every morning to make sure their tummies are filled and that they are enriched with empowerment and support.

This is the 10th year that Heynes has run the annual matric breakfast, for which she relies on sponsors.

Even the Covid-19 pandemic did not stop Heynes from digging deep into her pockets to make sure that matric learners had a healthy and tasty breakfast to get their day started and help them excel.

Last week, as the National Senior Certificate (NSC) began, Heynes was already feeding close to 20 learners from local high schools. She runs this initiative from her garage.

The Masithembele Matric Breakfast, as it is known, is a three-course meal.
