Diego Cornelius proves age is just a number

AT JUST 17, and in the spirit of Youth Month, Diego Cornelius is proving that leadership is defined not by age or circumstance, but by purpose and action.

Diego Cornelius proves age is just a number

A Grade 12 learner at Norman Henshilwood High School in Wynberg, he has emerged as a young leader committed to uplifting others and creating opportunities in his Westlake community.

His journey is closely tied to the Prescient Foundation, based in Tokai and established in 2005 as part of the Prescient Group's commitment to education and sustainable development.

The phrase “You are made for more” became a turning point after he joined the Foundation's leadership programme and was awarded a scholarship in 2020 while in Grade 7.

Cornelius recalls that his scholarship interview focused less on academics and more on ambition.

“It wasn't only about my marks. They wanted to know my dreams and what I wanted to do with my life,” he says.
