'REFUND SCAM'

- TRACY-LYNN RUITERS

A VIRAL TikTok video has placed Cape Town’s Kloof Street KwikSPAR under the spotlight after content creator Zoe Robb claimed she was banned from the store for trying to buy groceries for a woman and her child.

But the store has hit back, saying Robb was never banned and that staff were instead dealing with what management describes as a “plague” of repeat offenders who allegedly ask shoppers to buy goods before returning them for cash.

The video shows Robb recounting how she met a woman and her daughter at a traffic light before offering to help them with food.

According to Robb, she initially thought the pair were trying to cross the road before the woman approached her asking for help.

“Can you get me and my daughter something to eat? We're struggling right now,” Robb explained.
