MORE wintry weather, including snow and heavy rain, was battered the UK throughout yesterday, in the wake of Storm Goretti.

The storm brought gusts of almost 100mph, and a rare red warning for “dangerous, stormy” winds in South West of England was issued by forecasters late last week.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a man in his 50s was found dead in a caravan after a tree fell on to the vehicle in a village near Helston, in Cornwall, following Storm Goretti.

Despite the worst of the storm moving away, weather warnings were in place across northern England and Scotland throughout yesterday, with two alerts continuing into this morning.
