Botanic Garden is ready to entertain with activities and autumnal delights

WHETHER IT'S AN EXPERT-LED TOUR, FUN FOR THE KIDS OR JUST TAKING IN THE AWESOME TREES, THERE'S SO MUCH TO DO...

CAMBRIDGE University Botanic Garden is beginning to take on its beautiful autumn colours.

And with the arrival of the season comes a programme of activities for all ages to enjoy.

Visitors can find out more about the gardens' fascinating collections in a tour led by an expert guide or explore one of the many trails, including the incredible trees, many of which come into their own at this time of year.

There are also lots of events in the garden throughout autumn, including the much-loved Apple Day.

Here's a guide to what's on at Cambridge University Botanic Garden this autumn.

FUNGI FIELD DAY

Saturday, October 4 - between 10am and 4pm

Fungi Field Day celebrates fungi and their relationships with plants in the run up to UK Fungus Day.

Highlights include:

Talks from expert speakers about fungi and their interactions with plants;

A science outreach stall with microscopes to view fungi that live deep inside plant roots;

Use magical inks made from the natural world to help paint an underground, mycorrhizal fungi-inspired 'artscape' with the arts and wellbeing charity Cambridge Curi osity and Imagination;

Guided fungal forays around the garden;

Fungi crafts and games, plus face painting. All activities are drop-in and free with normal garden admission, except for the Fantastical Fungi 'artscaping'.

Free child tickets for this event must be booked online, available to book from a week prior to the event.

Adults do not need to book, but must accompany their child.
