Valuations, fresh equity supply key risks to mkts

Pricey stock valuations, especially in midcaps, and fresh equity supply through initial public offerings (IPOs) are the main risks for Indian markets, said Christopher Wood, global head of equity strategy at Jefferies, in his recent note to investors, Greed & Fear.
The market rally (after recent lows) means that valuations have become an issue again, he warned.
The Nifty Index is trading at 22.2x 12-month forward earnings, while the Nifty Mid-Cap 100 Index is trading at 27.1x 12-month forward earnings at the current levels.
