Uncertainty to hit Fall intake; university may become precedent for Ivy League

Students and education consultancies are concerned that the Donald Trump administration's recent actions against Harvard University could possibly set a precedent for action against other varsities.

However, a federal judge on Thursday temporarily blocked a proclamation by President Donald Trump that banned foreign students from entering the US to attend the University. US District Judge Allison Burroughs in Boston issued a temporary restraining order against Trump's Wednesday proclamation. Harvard, she said, had demonstrated it would sustain "immediate and irreparable injury" before she would have an opportunity to hear from the parties in the lawsuit.

Despite the order, experts say students are not sure of the US administration's next move. The uncertainty is set to affect the upcoming Fall intake in August.

Kajal Dave, co-founder of LaunchEd, said that the move likely affected thousands of international students currently applying or planning to study in the US, casting uncertainty over their academic futures.
