SCHOOL CROSSING WARDEN TELLS HOW THE ROLE HAS CHANGED HIS LIFE

- By JOSEPH RICHARDS

DERBYSHIRE County Council is looking for 'friendly people' to join its team of school crossing patrols.

New recruits will need the skills to deal with children, parents and all road users, be happy working in all weathers, and with an awareness of road safety.

No formal qualifications are needed, just a natural rapport with people, as recruits will be given all the training they need to carry out the role and will be provided with waterproof, high-visibility uniforms.

Councillor Dawn Abbott, cabinet member for health and communities, highlighted Billy Morley, who said he had no idea the impact it would have on his own life.
