Rovers battle the elements to win a spot in next round

IT was a dismal and very damp afternoon at the Moat Ground for this third round tie in the Isuzu FA Vase.

Despite the conditions, there was a healthy crowd, including a few that had travelled up from North Northamptonshire.

Rovers were down to the bare bones with seven first team players missing through various reasons - including injury, holiday or suspension - which meant manager Andy Gray once more having to call on the service of several reserve team players.

Rovers started well with Fin Barker trying his luck from the left, but the shot flew over the bar.

Minutes later it was the turn of Sam Moore, pictured, but his low shot flew wide.

The home side were having the better of the first half, but neither side managed to create any clear-cut chances of any note.
