BURTON Albion suffered a second loss in the space of four days as Wigan took all three points with a solitary goal in the first half.

One goal is enough to defeat Brewers

The nature of the goal probably summed up the game with hardly anything between the teams and a little bit of luck deciding the contest although Albion piled on the pressure towards the end and could easily have found a late leveller for what would have been deemed more of a fairer result.

It was a much improved defensive performance compared to the weekend with Albion looking back to their usual solidity and structure however they still offered little going forward until the second half and latter stages and looked most dangerous through set pieces although still largely struggled to test the goalkeeper.

Wrexham loanee Paul Mullin was accredited with the all important winning goal although, such was its scrappy and unfortunate nature, it may well end up being given as an own goal by the dubious goals panel upon closer investigation.

It is now five goals conceded with no reply from Albion in a week which is not like Bowyer's side. But, as with any team, form can fluctuate and there is no doubt they missed Charlie Webster and captain Udoka Godwin-Malife at both ends on a night like this when the margins are so fine.
