Hundreds out in force to show support for carnival

THE sun shone on revellers at Ashby’s carnival in May 1992 as townsfolk filled the streets.
A procession of floats brought cheering crowds to watch the brightly coloured displays travel through the streets.
For the organisers, it looked as though their gamble had paid off as this was the first time the carnival had been held on a Sunday.
