'Epic pieces of community art' alongside canal are now revived

ARTIST RETURNS ALMOST 20 YEARS LATER TO RENEW HIS MURALS AT DALLOW LOCK

NEWLY refurbished murals have been unveiled at Dallow Lock by Shobnall Parish Council.

Originally created in 2006, the murals feature iconic scenes and symbols from the area’s past and present, including the canal and Burton’s brewing history.

The murals have long stood as a vibrant celebration of local heritage, creativity and community spirit.

The artwork also reflects deeper elements of Burton’s heritage, including centuries-old associations with swans linked to the legend of St Modwen and references to the town’s historic monastic roots.

Over time, weathering and wear had dulled their colours and obscured the details.
