PLANS have been unveiled to convert a former hospital building in Burton into a children's care home.

- By JONATHAN SUTTON

Under the proposal, up to six children will be cared for at Robert Bewick House, near Queens Hospital in Burton.

The building was previously part of the hospital estate, but has been under utilised for a number of years and was recently put on the market for offers in excess of £400,000.

Now it is hoped to convert the building into a specialist teaching facility for resident children.

It will accommodate six children aged five to 18 and will offer a more specialist facility in comparison to other care homes in the area.

It is planned to register the home for those with learning difficulties and emotional behaviour disorders.
