BREWERS RELINQUISH CONTROL IN HOME ENCOUNTER
BURTON Albion blew the chance for a morale-boosting home win when they let a two-goal lead slip against Peterborough United at the Pirelli Stadium.
First League goals for Kegs Chauke and Rumarn Burrell had them in control in the first half but Posh pulled one back before halftime and, on the balance of play, deserved their equaliser after the break.
For Burton, it was a real missed opportunity.
With Terence Vancooten suspended and Jason Sraha injured, Burton brought Dylan Williams back into the starting lineup and there was a first League start for Nick Akoto since the 3-2 defeat at home to Wycombe Wanderers in October.
Billy Bodin and Mason Bennett returned to the squad, on the bench, where there was also a place for defender Finn Delap.
Nothing much happened in the first five minutes but the Brewers took the lead in the sixth with Chauke's first goal.
It came from a slick move, the first by either side, as Danilo Orsi released Williams on the left. His cross was ideal and so was Chauke's run, to put the ball in on the half volley from six yards, burying the memory of his miss from closer in against Birmingham City.
Peterborough had a free kick on the left in the 12th minute when Hector Kyprianou was caught by Chauke but Chris Conn-Clarke's kick was straight to keeper Max Crocombe.
Conn-Clarke had a shot from 25 yards in the 15th minute but Crocombe saved comfortably to his left.
Williams had to head a cross from the left out for the first corner to Posh in the 17th minute, which they took short and wasted but Peterborough were seeing more of the ball and had another corner, from the left, in the 19th minute, which Ryan Sweeney headed away.
